According to other blogs like engadget, gizmodo, and kotaku the new DSi “now released in japan” has quite a few hidden features like the psp 3000.

The most notible is the fact that NO current generation flashcart solutions work on the new system. However there is hope, although the new system cant run homebrew or roms as of now it should spark some inspiration for hackers to work on a more advance system to take advantage of the DSi’s new features “most notibly the built in sd slot”.

Depending on how nintendo handles the DSi’s software “mainly if it has a updatable OS” they may had just made it even easier to run roms on the DSi, of coarse it will take time “especially before it is released in the US and china”.

On a comical note, it seems nintendo has put a “do not insert passme cards in the sd slot” warning in the Japanese DSi User Manual as seen above. *Special Thanks to Kotaku for the image*

The second beta of the metroid 2 Return of Samus remake for windows has just been released by DoctorM64.

The gameplay is great and the demo is a short demo of how fluid the game will be and what to expect. I for one am highly anticipating the release of this game :P

Seems that the site Dealextreme.com is selling clones of the more popular flashcarts like the R4, the even have a clone of the TopToy which is selling under the name of “U2 DS”. Actually the clones are not half bad at all, I would just like to note that some of the clones “like the R4 clones” do NOT work with the official updates for the real R4.

However the updates can be obtained from the clone manufacture if you manage to find them, if you cannot find it I highly recomend looking in dealextremes forums or the comments and reviews on the product page.

Anyways to sum it up,

The Good: The clones can be cheaper and basically do the same thing as the original. Plus they should run homebrew fine. They also come with 3rd party memory cards “sd/mini/micro sd cards” *note: I am not sure of the quality of said memory so it may or may not be good quality”.

The Bad: The clones more than likely are made of lesser quality components than the original, they usually do not have support from the original cards manufacturer, they more than likely wont get many updates and wont have up to date compatibility, the clones could possibly harm your ds, and finally you more than likely will be disappointing to know you got a fake R4 or other flashcart.

On a side note, I have no problem with dealextreme at all. Matter of fact they have tons of items that are highly usability at a nice low price. I just wanted to give the readers a warning because I didn’t want you to be disappointed with your purchase.

Matter of fact, dealextreme does sell REAL flashcarts like the supercards and ttds’s. Also the clones do function as a flashcart should. They are different in the fact that they are lower quality and have lesser support than the original, this is why they are priced as low as they are. If you have a problem with your purchase the dealextreme team are more than happy to help you, and I am sure they will help fix your problem 100%.

Remember that rumored media cart that Nintendo was officially shipping for the DS and DS lite? Well I personally thought that since Nintendo had announced the DSi that any plans of said media cart was put aside… Well I was wrong, as of today the Japanese version of the DS Vision is shipping from consolesource.com for 50$.

Being like any other Nintendo game the DS Vision is only in Japanese and has no English support “yet”.

The ds vision is strictly a media only cart and supposedly can run content downloaded off Nintendo “meaning that the data is encrypted”, and it does NOT support any homebrew and or roms.

The hack ability of the DS Vision is still unknown however like everything I am sure it will be throughly looked into by the hacking community. It is also unknown if the DS Vision software can be ran on any other hardware then itself. I will post when new information is available.

Being as it is, if you only want a media cart then the DS Vision seems to be a good choice *considering it even comes to the USA and Europe*. However as cheap as other alternatives are becoming I personally think that you would be better off with a flashcard that can handle media and homebrew.

Yes, that’s right. At Nintendo’s Japanese press conference today, Nintendo’s president Satoru Iwata unveiled the latest addition to the DS line - the DSi. It already has a website up with smexy pics, as you can see here.

The new DSi:

  • Has a new interface.
  • Apparently has Mii support.
  • Has better speakers.
  • Has two 0.3MP cameras (one exterior, one on the hinge).
  • Has 3.25 inch, or 8.255cm screens (whether or not both of them are touch-compatible is still being debated; some sources say they are, some say only one is).
  • Is 12% thinner than the DS Lite - that’s 2.6mm.
  • Has no GBA slot - so long, Guitar Hero!
  • Allows for pictures to be manipulated with the touch screen.
  • Has audio-playback, and allows for pitch and playback speed to be manipulated with the touch screen.
  • Has an SD memory card slot.
  • Apparently has inbuilt memory too.
  • Has the DS web browser built in.
  • Allows you to connect to an online DS shop and download DSWare with Wii Points (which have been renamed Nintendo Points).
  • Comes in matte black and matte white - no more annoying fingerprints!
  • Will be launched on November 1st at 18,900 yen - that’s about $179 USD.

All in all, the DSi is a very impressive way for Nintendo to milk the cash cow of consumerism, and I can’t wait!

As for the aforementioned Wii news…

Wii News!

And things are looking crazy for the Wii. A plethora of new games and a few announcements were the main points to the conference:

  • In response to the storage problems that plague the Wii, Nintendo has announced that you can directly download games onto your SD card. As for if you’re able to play them directly off SD cards remains to be seen.
  • A huge amount of games were announced:
  1. Final Fantasy Wii/DS: Similar to the Zelda: Four Sword games.
  2. Animal Crossing City Folk: Pretty much what was shown at E3
  3. Nintendo will be re-releasing Gamecube games, re-made for the Wii. Such games will include Pikmin and DK Jungle Beat
  4. New Games: Punch-Out Wii, Sin & Punishment 2, Another Code Wii, Endless Ocean 2, Cosmic Walker, Tenchu 4, Harvest Moon: Waku Waku Animal March, Rune Factory Frontier, Samurai Waters 3, Monster Hunter 3, a new Tales game (mothership theme), Let’s Tap, 428, Family Ski World Ski, Snowboard, Karaoke Joysound, Taiko no Tatsujin Wii, Shape Boxing Wii de Enjoyment, Wii Sports Resort, R. Supaan Smasher, Dynamic Shin (working title), Tact of Magic, Kensakusu, NHK Quiz, Line Attack Heroes (working title).

Who ever said that the upcoming game releases were looking drab? More news as it comes!!!

Though some of you may be thinking that your flashcart is, if it's not playing some of the awesomesauce games that have been released this past week. But, never fear, chances are that your flashcart isn't completely dead just yet! So, without further adieu, if you are having problems with the following games, try the following solutions.

  • Kirby Super Stars Ultra (aka KSSU) - If it freezes at the new modes message, this .ips patch should do the trick. Apply the patch to the rom with IPSWin.

  • Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood (aka Sonicles) - If you get ye olde "Cannot read save data" message or similar upon starting up the game, and you know that you have the latest firmware for your flashcart, you'll probably need to apply the ARM 7 patch. There are instructions for applying it here and here, or you can grab a prepatched rom here (courtesy of Shadz, I believe? Let me know if I'm wrong). You'll also have to apply the ARM 7 patch on games such as The Incredible Hulk and Carnival Games.

  • Time Hollow - It seems as though the official Time Hollow rom is a bad dump that freezes at a certain point in the game. There's a .ppf patch that fixes this; you can grab it here. Apply the patch with PPF-o-matic. Alternatively, I've uploaded a prepatched rom here.

Enjoy!

I changed the IPB+WP connections a bit. Now there is a special section in the forums for mods/admins ONLY. If you are a mod/admin you will be able to post news on the front page via this section. If you're regular member news will still appear in the forums only as usual. Continue having fun everyone. Also notice the changes we made in navigation. The navibar got cluttered so we had to rearrange some things to a sidebar. Hope its okay.

Also Boxarts have been updated as requested.
NFO's will be soon.
Updates may be a little slower, i'm back in school and everyone knows how that can be.
If you have any other ideas please hit us up on the contacts or forums. Thanks everyone!

Hey there guys and gals! We’ve recently just included a homebrew section, so be sure to check out our newest addition on NDS-Help!!! The list is a comprehensive one, with a small description of the homebrew as well as links to the programs themselves. All cleverly written and researched by tehuber1337.

The homebrew section can also be found in the forums, so now there’s two sources for your homebrew needs!

Moreover, I’ve finally got around to working on the cheats page, and almost all of the instructions on how to put cheats on are done. Narin’s also finally come back (after losing internet access for a week due to a computer accident), so his cheat list has been updated. And it will always be updated, since the links automatically take you to the latest database!

Well, it has been a while since the last update, but here’s plenty for you to chew on! Have a tiiiiiime and check out our homebrew and cheats section! Until next time!

It’s been a while, but welcome back to another round of firmware tutorials!!! In the hot seat this time is the iTouch DS, with its many innovative features and whatnot!

It’s actually ultra simple to set up the iTouch DS, but for those who have only JUST got into the Slot 1 card scene with the iTouch DS, then read on! This will allow you to play! NOW YOU’RE PLAYING WITH POWER!

iTouch DSes, Styluses and Instructions on how to Update Your Firmware!
(1) The first place you should visit is our download page, at the top of the site. Find the iTouch DS section and it’ll give you the latest firmware. Download this.
(2) If you haven’t already, download WinRAR: http://www.rarlab.com/. This is to be able to extract the files you’ll find in the zip file that you downloaded. WinRAR isn’t a lion and doesn’t go RAWR, but it’s pretty close anyway. WinRAR will come in handy in the future, so it’s worth the download.
(3) Once you have downloaded WinRAR from the site, install it.
(4) After you install WinRAR, go to where you downloaded the firmware to, click into the file and “extract” the firmware files onto the root of the SD card. The root of the SD card is the first place you go to after clicking your SD card in “My Computer”.

That’s about it! Simple isn’t it? Now that you have the firmware put in, just boot up your iTouch DS and it should work!

Anyways, have a tiiime, and see you on the next episode of TUTORIALS ZZZZ *corny low Dragonball Z narrator voice*!!!
